FORCE TEN TESTED TO THE LIMITS DURING
ALAN HINKES' WORLD RECORD CLIMB
Britain's leading mountaineer,
Alan Hinkes, has become the first Briton to climb all 14 of the
world's 8000m plus peaks after successfully reaching the summit
of Kangchenjunga.
To help complete his historic mountaineering
challenge, Hinkes chose to be kitted out with a range of tents,
sleeping bags and other essential equipment from leading outdoor
performance brand Force Ten. The kit consisted of Force
Ten Vortex and Spindrift tents that gave
extreme performance and protection throughout the severe conditions
that Hinkes encountered, Electron Sleeping bags, providing maximum
warmth for winter mountaineering and a Mountain Refuge shelter,
an essential piece of kit for emergency situations.
Alastair Moodie, Marketing Director
of Force Ten said : "Everyone within Force Ten would like
to congratulate Alan on his extraordinary achievement of becoming
the first Briton to complete all fourteen 8,000m peaks. He fully
deserves his place in the record books alongside all the other Mountaineering
legends. We are also delighted that Alan chose to take Force Ten
tents and sleeping bags on his arduous expedition and this is once
again proof that Force Ten are the leaders in high performance tents
and sleeping bags."
Towering at 8,586m and standing as
the third highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga was defeated
by Hinkes around 7pm on 30th May 2005 and represents the final peak
of Hinkes ' Challenge 8000. Hinkes stay in the Kanchenjunga base
camp coincided with the 50th anniversary of the first successful
ascent of Kanchenjunga.
